Room ‘Topics’

Discovery – Room topics. Do you have any plans to add categories to rooms – like topics in interests. Sometimes we enter rooms that are not relevant to us or our followers. 

• Average days 500,000 rooms created & growing 
• Considering how to do this
  • without requirement, to keep it lightweight for most users, but available if you want it
  • Need to protect system from gamification 
  • Could add room description to hallway 
  • Could tag rooms with topics 
• Short answer, we want to give more info to help inform the tap on deciding to join. \
• Tricky problem and focussed on this throughout July 

Follow suggestions swiping away 

Follow suggestions. Under explore and people to follow. Can you add ignore not just follow option. 

• Yes we would like to do that 
  • Probably allow you to swipe suggestions away
• We can collect 2 types of feedback – implicit or explicit 
  • You ignored – Less work but weaker signal Could miss or go past for some other reason  
  • Or you actively told us – more work but stronger signal & more satisfying as you removed 

@mention notifications

@Mentions. I’d love to be notified if someone @mentions me on their profile

• If you are @mentioned on bio, you can tap to the persons profile 
• Not coming to notify you on the tag on their bio
• Notifications are most important for distribution
• With other platforms, it’s more important as others could see if images / things others could see because it’s content 
• Don’t want it to spam you if people mis-use it
• Bad @mention can be against ToS & will cause ban

Starting rooms from profiles

Rooms : Please let us start a room with person from their profile itself 

• You can sometimes do that today 
  • Half sheet (in room) 
    • Can invite to start room together and starts private 
    • Can only start with those who also follow you  – to prevent spam 
  • Full profile 
    • Not currently possible 
  • Think we will be adding this 

Revisiting rooms / profiles

Is there any way to see rooms I was previously in or profiles I recently viewed

• Only if you want to report a speaker 
• Search icon in hallway 
  • Can see people you recently listened to
  • Can’t see profiles you recently viewed or rooms you were recently in

Changing room titles mid room

Rooms / Clubs / Events. Will you allow people to correct or update room titles during rooms. TO update topics or add names when people join? 

• We think it makes sense, but working on design side 
• ABUSE : If you can change people could adjust to funny title & screenshot to embarrass people 

Seeing RSVPs

If i have scheduled event – is there way to see names or number of people who RSVPed

• Not yet
• You should be able to 
• First to make sure people are aware of the event
• Will add in future

Removing unauthorised speaker tags

People have scheduled me as speaker / co-host without asking. So followers see this room on my profile. Can I remove myself? 

• Can only do as your friend, if they do – report it. 
• If you unfollow they can’t do again 
• We should add more on this 

Reporting no show rooms

Can we get report feature for rooms for people who don’t show up? 

• You only get notification if room ACTUALLY starts 
• Only really affects those putting in their own calendars 
• We should do for no shows on single events

Hosting large private rooms

Whats the best way to how large organisation event. Most seem to be shows / events? 

• There are so many private rooms happening – you just can’t see them 
• Here’s how
  • Create club for your organisation, from profile at bottom 
  • Go to calendar & add event, from hallway, and + 
  • Add the club for organisation 
  • Default is only the club members 
  • Publish to schedule 
  • Link loaded with invites to pass to the people you want to join from organisation 
    • They skip waitlist and become member. of your club & RSVP to that event

Booking guest visibility

Booking guests. Would it be possible to see calendar for popular speakers. Want to know when they are free, based on clubhouse other rooms they speak in? 

• Only shows one event on profile now 
• We should and will add carousel 
• You would still not know they were available
• We should do more calendar intelligence
• Will be working on flow optimisation later this year  

In room numbers in real time

We should be able to see number split in the room. Speakers, followed by & audience

• Why would that be useful?
• Audience & speakers from hallway – informs the tap, to see. if participatory 
• Followed by speakers is more about ranking thing and less interesting – trying to work out why – possibly to assess the vibe 
  • Not in room – helps you stay in moment 
  • Want it – go to hallway to see anyway 
• Probably Aug / Sept time 

New user advice

New to Clubhouse, what would be your best advice to get the most from being on the platform. Best way to run room & mod too. 

• New user orientation – Wed 5pm PT 
• Keep it casual 
• Come and go as you feel 
• Feel free to multi-task 
• Never feel you need to do anything you don’t want to 
• Start a room – hit big green button, to tap friend on shoulder 
• Add to calendar if important topic 
• more people. onstage makes more inclusive and more perspectives & be thoughtful who you bring up 
• Allow diverse speakers & opinions and hold respectfully 
• Move people. up and down when you like 
• Develop your own style 
• Be welcoming 
• PING + button – think who can I bring in when in rooms 
• Tune your notification & tune them on
• Search for topics, clubs and people you think are interesting

Voiceover screenreader navigation

With those on screenreader, takes forever to remove from hallway, but see them again when back in the hallway. What can we do to make this better? 

• We should pick up where you left off
  • People like to jump between rooms 
  • How would that work if they wanted to go back to previous room?

Real identity

Real identity. What measures are you using to track and measure this, as people can use complicated methods to create profiles 

• We don’t go into details, or it can be gamed by bad actors 
• We do a lot on policy, security, trust & safety side to monitor this & community report these well
• Report inauthentic accounts

Can you pro-actively tell us what you are-working on. So we can reference this and know whats coming up and stop repeating requests

• What town hall is 
• Try and plan month in advance
• Don’t worry about repeat feature requests – helps us prioritise 
• We can’t predict 30 days out as every evolving. and changing
• We try to be agile
